The Chargers finished 3rd in the Dixie Hollins Tournament. They beat Largo 8-7 on Tuesday, lost a hard fought game to Northeast 6-3 on Thursday and beat Boca Ciega 11-0 for the 3rd place trophy.
John R. led off the 1st inning with a base hit. Spencer H. drew a base on balls. John R. scored on a double steal. With 2 outs Tyler L. singled to drive in a run and give the Chargers a 2-0 lead. The Chargers broke the game open with 8 runs in the 2nd inning. Austin R. and Miles B. opened the inning with bases on balls. John R. tripled to drive in 2 runs. Brent R. walked and Spencer H. grounded out to drive in a run. Jason K. singled to drive in a run. Tyler L. walked and Jon O. singled to drive in a run. Austin R. walked and Miles B. singled to drive in 2 more runs. Austin R. scored on a wild pitch to give the Chargers a 10-0 lead. The Chargers added another run in the bottom of the 3rd. Brent R. and Spencer H. both singled. Brian K. singled and drove in a run to make the final score 11-0.
Tyler L. picked up the win pitching 4 innings, striking out 5 and allowing 4 hits. Andrew R. worked the 5th inning allowing no runs, no hits, no walks.
Tyler L. made the defensive play of the game on a bunt down the 3rd base line. He made a bare-handed pickup and a perfect throw to 1st to retire the batter.
