The Chargers won the first game in the Northeast Preseason Classic. Tyler L. pitched 6 innings of shutout baseball. He struck out 6, walked 1 and allowed only 4 hits to pick up the victory.
John R. led off the 1st inning with a base hit and scored on a wild pitch. Marc B. hit a long home run. Jason K. doubled and Tyler L. also doubled to drive in the 3rd run in the 1st inning. In the 3rd inning Marc B. and Jason K. walked. Tyler L. hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run to make the score 4-0. Jon O. doubled to start the 6th inning and scored on a triple by John R. to make the score 5-0. Marc B. walked in the 7th inning and scored on a wild pitch to make the final score Shorecrest 6, Dixie Hollins 0.
Jason K. retired 3 hitters in the 7th inning with 1 strikeout to end the game.
Brent R. made the defensive play of the game with a spectacular play on a ground ball that was hit in the hole at Shortstop and threw out the hitter at 1st base.
