Shorecrest 4 - North East High 1

The Chargers won their second game in the NE Spring Tournament, defeating the host team Tuesday afternoon.

The Chargers scored 1 run in the top of the 5^th inning on a single by Jason K and Spencer H drove him in with a 2 out base hit to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. North East scored a run in the bottom of the 5^th inning to tie the game 1-1.

The Game was a pitching duel between Marc B and Robbie C. As the game went into extra innings, runs were difficult to come by.

In the top of the 10^th inning Andrew R singled, Austin R walked and Chris H got a base hit to drive in the go ahead run.  Avery C walked, Matt B and Jason K both walked to force in 2 runs to give the Chargers a 4-1 lead.

Andrew R made two outstanding defensive plays at shortstop and the entire Shorecrest defense played very good baseball throughout the entire game.

Marc B worked the first 7 innings, allowing 1 run, 1 hit, 10 strike outs and 1 walk.  Jason K pitched 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 strike out and 1 walk to pick up the win. They both pitched outstanding baseball.

Shorecrest Chargers 13 - Brooks DeBartolo 12

The Chargers fought back from a 9-4 deficit to pull out an exciting win in the 2^nd round of the North East Spring Break Tournament.

The Chargers scored two runs in the bottom of the 1^st inning on a double by Jason K and a double by Marc B to drive in a run.  Andrew R reached on an error and another run scored to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead.  Brooks DeBartolo scored 2 runs in the top of the 2^nd inning to tie the game 2-2.  Brooks DeBartolo scored a run in the top of the 3^rd inning to take a 3-2 lead.

In the bottom of the 3^rd inning Austin R reached on a walk, Spencer H singled to drive in a run, Marc B walked and Andrew R singled to drive in a run and give the Chargers a 4-3 lead.

Brooks DeBartolo scored 6 runs in the top of the 4^th inning to take a 9-4 lead.  In the bottom of the 4^th, Will S walked, Matt B singled, Austin R reached on an error and a run scored.  Jason K doubled to drive in 2 runs, Spencer H singled to drive in a run.  Marc B walked and Andrew R singled to drive in a run.  Will S walked, Matt B reached on an error and 2 runs scored to give the Chargers a 12-9 lead.  Brooks DeBartolo scored 3 runs in the top of the 5^th inning to tie up the game 12-12. 

In the bottom of the 7^th Jason K singled, Spencer H sacrificed him to second, Marc B was intentionally walked and Andrew R doubled to drive in the game winning run to make the final score 13-12.

Dixie Hollins 9 - Shorecrest Chargers 4

The Chargers lost their first game in the NorthEast Spring Break Tournament.

Dixie Hollins scored a run in the first inning and 5 runs in the 2^nd inning to take a 6-0 lead.  They scored 2 more runs in the top of the 5^th to increase their lead to 8-0.

In the bottom of the 5^th inning Matt B lead off for the Chargers with a double and 1 out. Jake B grounded to 2nd and a run scored to cut the lead to 8-1.  Jason K walked, Spencer H singled to drive in a run, Marc B singled to drive in another run to cut the lead to 8-3. In the top of the 6^th inning Dixie Hollins scored another run to take a 9-3 lead.  In the bottom of the 7^th inning, Jason K led off with a double, Spencer H walked and Andrew R singled to load the bases.  Austin reached on an error and a run scored to make the final score 9-4.

Andrew R was the losing pitcher working 4 innings – allowing 5 hits, 1 walk, 5 strike outs and no earned runs.  Austin R worked 3 innings – allowing 3 hits, 2 walks, 3 strike outs and no earned runs.

March 22, 2012 Shorecrest 6 - Clearwater Central Catholic 0 In the 3rd inning Will S singled, Jake B walked, Jason K hit a  home run to drive in 3 runs to give the Chargers a 3-0 lead.  Spencer H singled. Marc B and Andrew R walked. Spencer H scored on a wild pitch. Austin R singled to drive in a run to give the Chargers a 5-0 lead. In the Top of the 7th inning, Spencer H singled and scored on a base hit by Marc B to give the Chargers a 6-0 lead. Marc B  pitched an outstanding complete game for the Chargers. He struck out 9, walked one and allowed only one hit against a good Clearwater Central Catholic baseball team. It was a well played game and both teams played extremely hard. leading hitters for the Chargers were Jason K with a home run, a single, 3 RBIs and a run scored Spencer H with 2 hits and 2 runs scored Marc B with 1 hit, 1 RBI and 1 run scored Austin R with one hit and one RBI Will S with one hit and one run scored Jake B with 1 run scored The Chargers will play Saturday at 2:00 pm against Dixie Hollands in the NE Spring Baseball Tournament.

Lakeland Christian 10 - Shorecrest 0

Lakeland jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and scored 4 more runs in bottom of the 2nd inning to take a commanding 8-0 lead.  They scored single runs in 3rd and 4th innings to make the final score 10-0.

Tyler Leach pitched an outstanding game for Lakeland Christian.  He kept the Chargers off balance all night with a good fast ball and off speed pitches.  The Chargers were unable to get any offence against him.

Shorecrest  11 – Admiral Farragut 1

Admiral Farragut scored a run in the top of the 3rd inning to take a 1-0 lead.  The Chargers scored a run in the bottom of the 4^th inning - Jason K and Spencer H each walked and Andrew R got a base hit to drive in a run to tie the game 1-1.

In the bottom of the 6^th inning Jake B reached on an error, Andrew R singled and a run scored on an error.  Austin R singled to drive in a run, Will S grounded out and drove in a run , Chris H drove in a run on a sacrifice, Anthony F walked, Marc B hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, Jason K doubled to drive in a run, Spencer H doubled to drive in a run, Jake B was hit by a pitch, Andrew R walked , Austin R singled and drove in a run, Will S singled to drive in another run and Avery C scored on a wild pitch to end the game because of the 10 run rule, making the final score 11-1.

Andrew R pitched a great game - working 6 innings, allowing 1 unearned run, no walks, 2 hits and 12 strike outs.

Williston High School 2  - Shorecrest  1

The Chargers played a very good game against an outstanding Willliston Baseball Team on the road Thursday night.  Twelve scouts were in attendance at the game to focus on Charger Marc B and Williston’s center fielder and other players as well.  Marc B pitched a great game allowing one earned run, 5 hits, 6 strike outs and one walk against a powerful hitting team.  Marc B also hit a solo home run in the top of the 4^th inning to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead.  Williston scored an unearned run in the bottom of the 4^th inning to tie the game 1-1.  Williston scored the winning run in the 7^th inning to win the game 2-1.

The Chargers definitely played their best game of the year but unfortunately fell a run short.  Good defensive plays were turned in for the Charger by Andrew R and Chris H.

Newberry High School 6 - Shorecrest 5

Newberry scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead. They scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to go ahead 5-0. The Chargers scored 1 run in the top of the 5th inning on a 2 base hit by Tim M that drove in a run and cut the lead to 5-1. In the 6th inning Spencer H doubled, Marc B doubled to drive in 1 run, Austin R walked and Matt B walked to bring in a run. Tim M hit a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 5-4. Newberry scored a run in the bottom of the 6th inning to make the score 6-4. In the 7th inning Jake B and Jason K singled and Marc B got a hit to drive in another run to make the final score Newberry 6 and Chargers 5. Jason K took the loss for the Chargers.

Calvary Christian 4 - Shorecrest  1

Calvary Christian scored 1 run in the 1^st inning to take a 1-0 lead.  They scored a run in the 3^rd inning to make the score 2-0 and two more runs in the 4^th inning to increase their lead to 4-0.  The Chargers scored a run in the 7^th inning.  Tim M singled and Jason K drove him in to make the final score 4-1.

Marc B took the loss.  He allowed 2 earned runs, 4 hits, walked 1 and struck out 8.

Shorecrest 8 - Northside Christian 5

The Chargers scored 1 run in the 1st inning on a single by Jason K. Austin R singled to drive in the run giving the Chargers a 1-0 lead. Northside scored 4 runs in the top of the second to take a 4-1 lead. Chris H singled to lead off the 2nd inning and Jake B singled to drive in a run. Spencer H also got a base hit to drive in a run and cut the lead to 4-3.

In the bottom of the 5th inning Marc B walked and pinch hitter Will S singled to drive in a run with a ground out. Avery C singled to drive in another run to give the Charges a 5-4 lead. Northside scored a run in the top of the 6th to tie the game up at 5-5. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Tim M was hit by a pitch, Jake B reached on a fielder's choice, Jason K was intentionally walked, Marc singled to drive in one run and two runs scored on wild pitches to give the chargers an 8-5 lead.

Marc B retired the side in order in the 7th inning to make the final score 8-5.

Marc B picked up the win in relief, working 2 innings - allowing 1 hit, 3 strike outs and no bases on balls. Jake B pitched 3 1/3 inning of great baseball and gave the chargers a chance to come back and win the game.

Indian Rocks Christian 5 – Shorecrest Prep 3

Indian Rocks scored single runs in each of first 3 innings to take a 3-0 lead. They added 2 more runs in the top of the 4^th to increase their lead to 5-0.

The Chargers rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 7^th inning to make the final score 5-3.

Jason K pitched 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs, 3 hits and striking out 6.  Austin R and Avery C each pitched one inning of shut out baseball, allowing no hits.

Clearwater Central Catholic 4 - Shorecrest 3

The Chargers lost a hard fought 1 run game on Friday at home.  The Chargers scored 2 runs in bottom of the 1^st inning on a wild pitch and base hit by Andrew R.  CCC scored 3 runs in the top of the 3^rd inning to take a 3-2 lead.  The Chargers tied the game with a run in the bottom of the 5^th inning - Jason K singled and Spencer H doubled to drive in the run to make the score 3-3.  CCC scored a run in the top of the 6^th inning that turned out to be the winning run.

Marc B pitched a great game and did not allow an earned run.  He struck out 7, allowed 3 hits, and 2 walks.  Anthony F made 2 outstanding defensive plays at 3^rd base for the Chargers.

Spencer H with 1 single, 1 double, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI

Shorecrest Chargers 20 – Admiral Farragut 2

The Chargers scored 8 runs in the 1st inning on 4 hits and 4 walks to jump out to an 8-0 lead.  In the 3rd inning, the Chargers scored 1 run on 2 hits to increase their lead to 9-0. The Chargers scored 8 more runs in the 4^th inning to make the score 17-0.  AF scored 2 runs in bottom of the 4th inning and the Chargers scored 3 more runs in top of 5^th inning to make final score 20-2.

Austin R pitched a very good ballgame for the Chargers, working 4 inning with no earned runs, 2 hits, and 5 strikeouts.  Avery C pitched 1 inning, allowed no hits, 1 walk and 3 strike outs.
