Shorecrest won a hard fought pitching duel. Marc B. pitched a complete game shutout for the Chargers. He struck out 9 and only allowed 2 hits.
The Chargers scored a run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Jon O. had a great at bat. With 2 strikes he fouled off 4 pitches and then lined a base hit to right field to start the rally. Tyler L. advanced him to 2nd base. Jake B. lined a hit to left field. John S. got a single to load the bases. Brent R. worked the pitcher for a base on balls to force in the 1st run of the game. This was the only walk the Chargers received during the entire game. The Chargers scored again in the bottom of the 6th inning. Spencer H. led off with a line drive base hit. Tyler L. reached on an error and Spencer H. scored from 2nd base to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead going into the 7th inning.
Marc B. then retired the side in order, striking out 2 to end a very exciting game.
Defensive players of the game were John R. with 2 very good catches in center field. Brent R. made a great back handed stab of a hard hit ground ball in the fold at shortstop and threw the batter out at 1st base. The Chargers played very good defense throughout the game.
