The Chargers were eliminated from the post-season in a heartbreaking pitchers’ duel loss to Calvary Christian. The Chargers were playing without leading hitter Jason K and outfielder Will S, and Andrew R was limited to DH duties, resulting in a revamped defensive alignment. Injuries have hampered the Chargers all season with January’s projected starting lineup never taking the field for an entire game, but the team never stopped battling.

Calvary scored without a hit in the bottom of the first on a leadoff walk, a sacrifice bunt, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly. Shorecrest answered back in the top of the second on a single by Austin R, a walk to Avery C and an RBI single by Chris H to tie the score.

Calvary scored an unearned walk-off run in the bottom of the 7^th when their only hit of the game knocked in a runner from second.

Marc B was brilliant in his final game as a Charger, going 6 1/3 innings, allowing 1 hit, striking out 12 with only 2 walks, one of which was intentional. He retired an amazing 19 batters in a row from the 1^st inning through the first out in the 7^th.

Shorecrest Chargers 7 - St John Neumann 1

In the top of the 1^st inning Spencer H and Andrew R both walked. Spencer H scored a run on a past ball to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead.

In the 3^rd inning Jason K walked, Andrew R singled, Avery C and Chris H walked to force in a run and a run scored on a wild pitch to give the Chargers a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the 4^th inning St. John Neumann scored an unearned run to cut the lead to 4-1.

Anthony F walked to lead off the bottom of the 4^th.  Jake B walked and Jason K singled. Spencer H walked to force in a run and Andrew R hit a sacrifice fly and a run scored on a wild pitch to give the Chargers a 5-1 lead.

Matt B led off the bottom of the 6^th inning with a walk.  Jason K doubled to drive in a run.  Spencer H hit a sacrifice fly to drive in another run and make the final score 7-1.

Marc B pitched 5 innings – allowing no earned runs, 1 hit, 4 strike outs and no walks to pick up the win for the Chargers.  Jason K worked 2 innings with no runs, 2 strike outs and no walks.  Marc B and Jason K both pitched outstanding baseball.

Jake B made a great defensive catch at center field and Matt B made a great play at 2^nd base.

Shorecrest Chargers 13 – Northside Christian Mustangs 2

Jake B led off the 1^st inning with a base hit and Jason K doubled to drive in a run and give the Chargers an early 1-0 lead.  Northside Christian scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1^st inning to take a 2-1 lead.

Austin R led off the top of the 2^nd inning with a base hit. Avery C singled, Chris H got a base hit and Matt B reached on an error and 2 runs scored. Jake B singled to driving in a run and the Chargers took the lead 4-2.

Andrew R led off the top of the 3^rd inning with a stand up triple. Austin R got a single to bring in a run. Tim M reached on a fielder’s choice. Avery C singled, Chris H singled to drive in a run, Jake B walked, Jason K doubled to drive in 3 runs.  Spencer H singled to drive in a run.  Austin R walked, Tim M singled to drive in another run to give the Chargers an 11-2 lead.

Chris H singled to start the top of 4^th.  Matt B was hit by a pitch and Jake B hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run and make the score 12-2.

Colton M singled to start the top of the 5^th.  Austin R walked and Tim M drove in a run on a ground out to make the final score 13-2.

Austin R was the winning pitcher, working 4 1/3 innings allowing no runs, 4 hits and 5 strike outs.

Jake B, Chris H and Matt B all made outstanding defensive plays for the Chargers.

Shorecrest Chargers 16 – Seffner Christian  8

Tim M and Spencer H led the Charger hitting attack Tuesday at Seffner Christian.  Tim M hit a Grand Slam home run and 2 singles for 5 RBIs.  Spencer H hit a 3 run homer and had 3 singles and 4 RBIs. 

In the first inning Jason K and Spencer H singled.  Andrew R doubled and drove in a run.  Austin R singled to drive in a run.  Avery C singled to drive in 2 more runs to give the Chargers a 4-0 lead.

Jake B led off the top of the 2^nd inning with a base hit. Jason K doubled and Spencer H hit a 3 run homer to give the Chargers a 7-0 lead.

Spencer H walked to start the top of the 4^th inning and Andrew R singled, Avery C doubled to drive in 2 runs to give the Chargers a 9-0 lead.

Seffner scored 7 runs in the 5^th inning to cut the lead to 9-7.

In the top of the 6^th inning, Austin R singled and Tim M also singled to drive in a run to make the score 10-7.  Seffner scored a run in the bottom of the 6^th inning to cut the Charger lead 10-8.

The Chargers broke the game open in the top of the 7^th inning on a leadoff double by Jason K and RBI base hit by Spencer H and a walk to Rahul C.  Austin R was hit by a pitch and Tim M hit a Grand Slam home run to make the final score 16-8.

Andrew R was the winning pitcher working 4 innings – allowing no runs, 2 hits, 7 strike outs and 1 walk.  Jason K picked up a save working 2 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 6 strike outs, 1 walk and 1 run.

The Chargers came out swinging their bats on the road trip to Seffner today. Details will follow but leading hitters for the Chargers were Spencer H with a 3 run home run and Tim M with a Grand Slam!

Pinellas Park High 5 – Shorecrest Chargers 3

The Chargers scored 3 runs in the 2^nd inning.  Chris H and Tim M walked and Avery C reached on an error and a run scored.  Austin R reached on an error and 2 more runs scored giving the Chargers a 3-0 lead.

Pinellas Park scored 3 runs in the 4^th inning on 3 hits to tie the score 3-3.  They scored a run in the 5^th and 6^th innings to make the final score 5-3.

The Chargers were unable to drive in runs in the 2^nd, 3^rd, 5^th and 7^th innings with runners in scoring position.

Austin R took the loss working 5 innings - allowing 2 earned runs, 7 hits and walking 4.  Avery C pitched 2/3 inning retiring both hitters and having 1 strike out.

Shorecrest Chargers 10 - Indian Rocks Christian 3

Indian Rocks scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.

Matt B led off the top of the 4^th inning for the Chargers with a base-on-balls, Tim M singled and Avery C got a base hit to load  the bases. Austin R hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. Jason K doubled to drive in 2 runs and Spencer H singled to drive in the 4th run of the inning to give the Chargers a 4-2 lead.

Indian Rocks scored a run in the bottom of the 4^th inning to cut the Charger lead to 4-3.

Anthony F led off the top of the 5th inning with a base-on-balls. Matt B singled and Tim M reached on an error.  Austin R drove in a run on a ground ball out to make the score 5-3.

In the top of the 6th inning the Chargers scored 3 more runs on an RBI single by Austin R, and RBIs by Tim M and Avery C make the score 8-3.

In the top of the 7^th Chargers scored 2 more runs on a single by Spencer H and a double by Andrew R and 1 RBI by Tim M and a run scored on a balk to make the final score 10-3.

Andrew R picked up the win in relief. He worked 3 innings giving up no runs, one hit and 4 strike outs. Jason K pitched 4 innings allowing one earned run, 5 hits and 3 strike outs.

The Chargers played errorless defense. The 2 key defensive plays were turned in by Austin R and Anthony F.

St Pete Catholic 5 – Shorecrest Chargers 0

St Pete Catholic scored a run in the 2^nd inning to take a 1-0 lead.  They scored a run in the 6^th inning and 3 runs in the 7^th inning to make the final score 5-0.  The Chargers were unable to get a key hit with runners in scoring position.  They had the bases loaded with 1 out in the 4th inning and were unable to score.

Marc B took the loss, pitching 6 innings, allowing no earned runs, 5 hits and 5 strike outs.  Leading hitters were Chris H and Austin R, each with one hit.
