North East High School 12 – Chargers 1

NE scored 4 runs in top of 2^nd inning to take the lead 4-0.  The Shorecrest Chargers scored a run in the bottom of the 2^nd – Tim M singled and scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 4-1.  NE scored 4 runs in the 4^th inning and 4 runs in the 5^th inning for a final score of 12-1.  Jason K took the loss for the Chargers with Avery C, Andrew R and Tim M also pitching.  The Chargers were only able to collect 2 hits - Tim M and Spencer H had the only hits.

Friday Feb. 24

St Pete Catholic 11 – Shorecrest Chargers 1

SPC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a walk, hit batter and error.  The Chargers scored a run in the top of the 3^rd inning – Matt B lead off with a base hit and advanced to 3^rd on 2 ground ball outs, Spencer H walked and the Chargers executed a double steal to score the run and cut the SPC lead to 2-1.  SPC exploded for 6 runs in the 5^th inning and scored 3 more runs in the 6^th inning to make the final score 11-1. Marc B took the loss, pitching 4 innings striking out 4, allowing 4 hits and no earned runs.  Andrew R, Jason K, and Austin R pitched in relief for the Chargers.  Leading hitters were Anthony F, Austin R and Matt B.

Next Up – Monday Feb 27 - Chargers vs North East High School at 4:00 at home.

Tuesday February 21 - Calvary Christian 8 - Shorecrest Chargers  3

The Chargers lost their first game of the year in the district. Calvary scored 2 unearned runs in the 1^st inning for 2-0 lead and they scored another unearned run in the 3^rd inning to make the score 3-0. Calvary scored 4 runs in the top of 5th inning to go ahead 7-0.  The Chargers scored 3 runs in bottom of the 5^th inning – Jason K reached on an error, Marc B walked, Spencer H hit into a force play, Chris H walked, Austin R singled to drive in 1 run, Anthony F walked to force in a run, Tim M hit into a force play that drove in a run to make the score 7-3. Calvary scored another run in the top of the 6^th inning to make the final scored 8-3.  The game was called at the end of the 6^th inning because of darkness.  Jason K was the losing pitcher working 4 1/3 innings and Austin R worked 1 2/3 innings for the Chargers.  Leading hitters were Jason K with 1 hit, Marc B with a hit, Austin R with 1 hit and Anthony F with a base hit. 

Next up - The Chargers will play St Pete Catholic Friday Feb. 24 @ 7:00 pm at St Pete Catholic.

Tuesday February 14 - Shorecrest Chargers 3 - Boca Ciega 0


Chargers scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning. Austin R led off with a base hit and Tim M reached on an error. Alex D singled to drive in the first run of game.  Jason K doubled to drive in the 2^nd run to make the score 2-0.   In the 5^th inning Marc B singled, Andrew R also singled and Chris H drove in a run with a base hit to give the Chargers a 3-0 lead.  Marc B pitched an outstanding game, striking out 12, allowing one hit and did not walk a batter and pitched a complete game for the Chargers.  Chris H did a very good job behind the plate. Matt B had a very good catch on a pop-up and the Chargers had a good defense throughout the game.
